Apparently, global warming has left the building. It’s May 1, and 5 inches of snow are predicted for the Rockies.
Temperatures hit 70 in the region on Monday. But in a few days, residents will need to bring back the winter coats, CNN reported.
“Crazy temperature contrast,” said meteorologist Kathy Sabine, in CNN.
The average date for the last snow in Denver is April 26. The latest snowfall was June 12, 1947, the National Weather Service reported. May is getting pretty late for spring to show — and the region’s cold weather and snowy forecast is wreaking havoc with the nurseries. Owners are having to run the plants in and out of greenhouses, trying to stay one step ahead of the weather, CNN said.
“It’s incredibly frustrating,” the manager of Colorado’s City Flora said, as cited by CNN. “We keep going back and forth all the time, and now Jack Frost is visiting us once again.”
Meanwhile, residents to the south in Phoenix are complaining of the heat. Triple-digit temperature hit over the last few days. Wednesday’s predicted highs of mid-90s are actually a cooling relief to Arizona dwellers, CNN reported.
