Sen. Rand Paul’s successful filibuster will only inspire others to try the same — and that’s a good thing, senators from both political parties said.
“I thought it was pretty effective and so I think you probably see more of them,” Senate GOP Whip John Cornyn, Texas Republican, told the Hill.
Sen. Heidi Heitkamp agreed.
“I actually hope [for more] because I think a lot was accomplished by people standing up and listening,” said the North Dakota Democrat, adding that she watched most of the Kentucky Republican’s filibuster and “learned a lot.”
Sen. Mike Lee, Utah Republican, added, “This is the first time this has happened in two and a half or three years, and I expect to see more of this from time to time,” according to the Hill.
