Sparks flew on Fox News Tuesday evening, as “The O’Reilly Factor” host Bill O’Reilly repeatedly shut down liberal radio commentator Alan Colmes’ characterization of the sequester debate, accusing the guest several times of outright lying.

The back-and-forth got heated when Mr. O’Reilly said President Obama refused to take a specific role in the budget-cutting debate and name which programs he wanted cut. Mr. Colmes disagreed.

“That’s not true,” Mr. Colmes said, as reported by Politico.

“Hold it, hold it, because now I’m getting teed off at you,” Mr. O’Reilly said. “Give me one damn program he said he’d cut. One?”

Mr. Colmes said the president has cut entitlements; Mr. O’Reilly denied that claim.

“What do you want to yell for?” Mr. Colmes asked.

“Because you are lying. You are lying,” Mr. O’Reilly said.

Mr. Colmes accused Mr. O’Reilly of not “lik[ing] the president,” and said “but don’t sit there and call me a liar.”

“I am,” Mr. O’Reilly said.
