TEMPE, ARIZ. (AP) - Albert Pujols is in the starting lineup to make his 2013 spring training debut for the Los Angeles Angels, about 10 days ahead of schedule following offseason knee surgery.

Pujols was down to be the designated hitter and bat third against Cincinnati on Tuesday, saying he wanted to “see some live pitching,”

Angels manager Mike Scioscia says Pujols “feels good, and he wants to see some velocity pitches.”

Pujols, starting his second season with the Angels, says he would not “get a hit and not try to stretch it into a double or a triple,” and that he had been sprinting but not running the bases last weekend.

The Los Angeles lineup included its projected starting outfield for the first time: Mike Trout in left, Peter Bourjos in center and Josh Hamilton in right field.
