LOS ANGELES (AP) - “Jack the Giant Slayer” climbed to the top of the box office in its first weekend in theaters, but didn’t reach any great heights.
The big-budget, 3-D Warner Bros. adventure inspired by the Jack and the Beanstalk legend made just $27.2 million in its debut, according to final studio figures Monday.
The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Hollywood.com are:
