New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’ gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, unveiled a new ad Thursday: It features parents of children killed in the Newtown, Conn., shooting rampage calling for tighter Second Amendment laws.

The ad is an emotional draw on watchers. In it, parents of the killed children share their family memories and their last moments. The aim: tTo gather enough support for the federal government to mandate background checks on all gun buyers and to ban assault-type weapon sales and high-capacity ammunition magazines, The Hill reports.

“We dropped Jesse off in the morning to go to school December 14th, he gave me a hug and a kiss and said, ’I love you dad and I love mom, too.’ That was the last I ever saw of Jesse alive,” Neil Heslin says in the video, as reported by The Hill.

This is the latest of Mr. Bloomberg’s attempts to crack down on gun rights. He recently donated $12 million of his own money to Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which he founded.
