A contributor on CNN said during a Thursday broadcast on gun control that the reason reform was stalling on Capitol Hill was that white children weren’t being killed.
“No white children … [are] losing their lives,” said Pete Dominick, expressing frustration with the failure of Congress to pass restrictions on gun rights, on CNN. If more white kids were killed, the legislation would speed to approval, he suggested.
His comments were in context of the CNN anchor speaking of poll numbers for gun control, and how they have dropped in the months since the December shootings in Newtown, Conn. Public support for tight Second Amendment clamp-downs have fallen from 52 percent to 43 percent, CNN said.
“Out of sight, out of mind,” Mr. Dominick said, on CNN. “As long as there’s no white people and white children losing their lives – I mean, it’s still happening, obviously, in places like Chicago to black youths — people don’t think about it as much.”
Mr. Dominick also had words of praise for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, President Obama and Vice President Biden for keeping up the pressure for gun control, Mediaite reported.
