Ashley Judd confounds with Kentucky campaign, Tennessee residency

Hollywood actress Ashley Judd is quietly campaigning for a Senate seat for Kentucky, but has not yet moved from her home in Tennessee. Confused?

So are political insiders.

Ms. Judd is continuing to reference in public speeches a possible Democratic Party run for the Senate seat currently held by long-timer Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, as The Daily Caller reports. But she’s not dropping the hints so much in Kentucky — to would-be constituents. Rather, she’s making trips to Washington, D.C., to talk with party fundraising heads, various media have reported over the past few weeks.

And just a few days ago, she was in Ohio, speaking to an American Counseling Association crowd, and tossing out a curious reference to $40 million that some interpreted to mean she expected a tough and costly campaign, The Daily Caller reports. Earlier this month, she spoke to a college crowd in Washington, D.C., about reproductive health, and to an assembly in Omaha about child sexual abuse.

But nothing in Kentucky.

“For someone who’s talking about running for Senate in Kentucky, you’d think she might show up there every once in a while,” said one unnamed Republican aide, in The Daily Caller report. “Forget that she hasn’t established residency. Kentucky may be the only state in the country she hasn’t even been to in the past two months.”
