The Internal Revenue Service apologized to taxpayers last week for funding a $60,000 “Star Trek” parody video, but Capt. James T. Kirk himself had not weighed in — until now.

William Shatner, who as Kirk commanded the USS Enterprise in the ’Star Trek’ franchise, took to Twitter early Tuesday, saying: “So I watched that IRS video. I am appalled at the utter waste of US tax dollars.”

The video also was made with a “Gilligan’s Island” parody in 2010 for a leadership conference.

“There is no mistaking that this video did not reflect the best stewardship of resources,” the IRS said in a statement Friday.
