The 44-year-old New Jersey father of five who reportedly won $338 million in the recent Powerball drawing said his plan for the money is to help those in need.
“I’m going to help a lot of people,” said Pedro Quezada, to the New York Daily News. “Whatever they need.”
Mr. Quezada bought the winning ticket at Eagle Liquors in Passaic and called his wife with the good news.
“I still can’t believe it,” she said, in an NBC report. “We never expected it, but thank God.”
The family currently lives in an apartment that faces a highway, NBC says.
Lottery officials say this Powerball win was the fourth largest ever — but they haven’t yet confirmed that the Quesada family is the winner. Powerball did confirm, however, that the ticket was sold at Eagle Liquors, and Mr. Quesada did come forward with his ticket to local press.
“This is super for all of us on this block,” neighbor Eladia Vazquez told NBC New York. “They deserve it because they are hardworking people.”
