A New Jersey politician may have just traded his rising star status for a notation on the Democratic Party’s blacklist.

Emails obtained by The New York Post paint Democratic Assemblyman Joe Cryan in a most compromising position. He reportedly traded about 150 emails with lobbyist Karen Golding expressing his interest in kinky sexual activities — bondage, spanking and the like.

The Post reported one email dated June 28, 2004, that he began: “What do you want to be spanked with?”

The story has its start about seven years ago.

Mr. Cryan accused Ms. Golding of stalking him in 2006. She was arrested; she subsequently said the two were having an affair, The Post reported. Mr. Cryan denied the affair — and then spent years trying to keep the emails squelched. Ms. Golding, meanwhile, fought in court for their release, The Post reported. And on Feb. 5, she filed a motion in Morristown Superior Court in New Jersey that attached the emails as exhibits — and The Post obtained a copy of that filing.

Now the emails are out. And Mr. Cryan’s political career is in question.

Mr. Cryan, who previously served as vice chairman of the state’s Democratic Party, was recently being touted as the next chairman, The Post reports.
