Real estate tycoon Donald Trump told the New York Post on Friday that former New York Rep. Anthony D. Weiner came to him for money “just before he pressed the wrong button on his computer.”

“I have known Anthony over the years, but I have never liked him. What he did was ridiculous, suicidal, and as for him running for mayor, I think New York has bigger problems,” the real estate mogul told the Post.

“About two weeks before he pressed the wrong button on his computer, he called me for help with regard to fundraising, I was noncommittal,” he continued. “He called me on numerous occasions for money, but it was unlikely I would ever do it.”

Mr. Trump told the Post that he will make a decision soon in backing a New York mayoral candidate, naming John Catsimatidis as someone he is “friendly” with.

The billionaire blasted Mr. Weiner as a “whack-job pervert” at a press conference following his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last week, the Post reports.

Mr. Weiner has filed paperwork with the city, suggesting that he has already spent more than $100,000 toward a mayoral bid.
