Iran’s leading cleric vowed to take out Tel Aviv and Haifa if Israel ever dared launch at attack on the Islamic republic.

“At times the officials of the Zionist [Israeli] regime threaten to launch a military invasion but they themselves know that if they make the slightest mistake the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground,” said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader, on a live television broadcast on Thursday, as reported in The Jerusalem Post.

Israel recently said it would engage militarily against Iran if that nation didn’t abide international calls to halt its nuclear development. Western nations suspect the nuclear development is for weaponry; Iran insists its uranium enrichment program is for peaceable purposes only.
