OPINION:
I have been a fan of Bill Cosby for years, and when he comes to town, I buy tickets to his show. Mr. Cosby has never disappointed me with his stance on American culture — until his recent rant that if you are white and disagree with President Obama, you are a racist (“Bill Cosby says those who oppose Obama are racist,” Web, March 4).
How naive. Logically speaking, if Mr. Cosby is right, then any black person who disagreed with President George W. Bush is also a racist. I don’t buy that corollary, and neither should Mr. Cosby. Because of his illogical statement, whether he knows it or not, Mr. Cosby is causing further deterioration to race relations in America by encouraging people to think disagreements are a symptom of racism. How wrong he is.
