Too much sex and drugs are causing Wisconsin authorities to scale back nude beach hours. They’ve closed the popular resort area Monday through Friday, only allowing access on the weekends, the Associated Press reports.
The new schedule goes into effect immediately, according to AP.
For decades, nudists around the country have been vacationing at the Wisconsin River beach, located 25 miles northwest of Madison. But visitors aren’t just sunbathing and swimming — they’re also wandering into the nearby woods for sex and to take drugs.
The state Department of Natural Resources scaled back beach hours in hopes that frustrated and overwhelmed police will be better equipped to patrol with a limited hours-of-operation schedule.
The department said up to 70,000 vacationers from as far away as Florida come to the beach during summer, AP reports.
