A Massachusetts Democratic councilman running for state office faces an ethics investigation after he was accused of going on a verbal rampage in a Texas Roadhouse restaurant after a special-needs child disrupted his dining.
Wayne A. Matewsky, an Everett Common Council member who’s seeking a seat in the state House of Representatives, says he did nothing wrong, My Fox Boston reports.
“This is a smear campaign developed to hurt my candidacy,” he said in the broadcast report.
But restaurant workers say otherwise. They tell reporters that Mr. Matewsky used “foul language” and mistreated restaurant workers and that he left without paying his bill. He also threatened to sic the health department on the business, Texas Roadhouse workers tell My Fox Boston. Why?
His verbal assault began after a family dining nearby could not control their noisy special-needs daughter, My Fox Boston reports. Mr. Matewsky allegedly began to argue with the father about the child’s behavior and then spread his anger to others in the restaurant, the report says.
The Everett Common Council voted 16-0 for the city’s ethics board to investigate the allegations.
