Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh had harsh words for a just-released Republican National Committee report that called GOP members “narrow minded” and “out of touch.”

That’s completely untrue, he said, of the RNC’s widely reported autopsy report that shed insight on the party’s 2012 election failures. More to truth: GOP leaders are out of touch with the party’s base.

“We are in touch with the founding of this country,” he said, as Newsmax quoted. “We are in touch with the greatness in this country and its people.”

But if the GOP gives heed to the recommendations in the report, or to calls to move to the center, the party will be well on its way to losing touch, he said. For instance: Gay marriage.

“If the party makes [gay marriage] something official that they support, they’re not going to pull the homosexual activist voters away from the Democrat Party, but they are going to cause their base to stay home and throw their hands up in utter frustration,” Mr. Limbaugh said.
