The Atlanta woman who had filed a paternity suit against former basketball sensation Michael Jordan has abruptly dropped her case.
Pamela Smith dismissed her suit last week. Through her attorney on Monday, she said it was “in her son’s best interests,” the Chicago Sun-Times reports. She can still pursue the case at a later time if she changes her mind, her attorney said.
Ms. Smith’s suit asked the judge to order Mr. Jordan to undergo genetic testing to see if he is the father of Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds, now 16.
Mr. Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls. Ms. Smith declined to elaborate on the reasons for dropping her suit. Her attorney said she initially filed it without the help of an attorney and “believed [it] to be a legally appropriate case” at the time, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
