Scientists tap into mind reading with new image technology

Thanks to new technology, scientists can now read minds — to a limited degree, that is.

Emerging imaging technology gives researchers the ability to identify what people are imagining and therefore, who they’re thinking of, Business Insider reports. The technology has passed several tests: It has shown researches what number people have just seen, what memory they’re recalling — and now, scientists can even make a copycat video of what movie a person has just watched, Business Insider says.

It’s all based on tapping into the person’s brain activity and recreating what’s mapped.

“This is the first study to show that we can decode what people are imagining,” said Cornell University cognitive neuroscientist Nathan Spreng, in the Business Insider report.
