North Korea decries South Korea’s ‘swish of skirt’

North Korean high-ranking officials finally publicly recognized South Korea’s first female president — but with a gender bash. Military officials decried the South’s “swish of skirt,” a derogatory swipe at South Korea’s president, Park Guen-hye.

“This frenzy kicked up by the South Korean warmongers is in no way irrelevant with the venomous swish of skirt made by the one who again occupies” the presidential Blue House, said a spokesman for the North Korean National Defense Commission, in The Associated Press. The statement from North Korea is the first criticism to come of Ms. Park since her election, Dec. 19, AP reports.

“Swish of skirt” is a Korean term to describe overly aggressive women — like housewives who micromanage their children, AP reports.

The North issued the criticism in context of repeating military threats against the South. The latest response from the South has been a stern warning.

Seoul said that North Korea would “evaporate from the face of the Earth” if it actually used a nuclear weapon against the South or against Western powers, AP said.
