North Korea on Monday scrapped the cease-fire that ended the Korean War in 1953, as the U.S. and South Korea conducted military exercises in the region.

Pyongyang’s decision was reported by the North’s main state newspaper Rodong Sinmun.

On Friday, North Korea’s regime ended all peace pacts with South Korea and cut off a military communications hotline.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s regime also has threatened to launch a nuclear strike on the U.S. However, officials and analysts don’t believe the North has the capability to launch a nuclear device.

The 11-day U.S.-South Korea war games started on Monday.
