Former Sen. Scott Brown is making the move from politics to law. The Massachusetts politico who rose to national prominence by beating the odds and snagging Democrat Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in 2010 is now taking a position with Nixon Peabody law firm.
The firm announced the decision on Monday.
In a statement publicized by the Huffington Post, firm heads said Mr. Brown “will focus his practice on business and governmental affairs as they relate to the financial services industry as well as on commercial real estate matters.”
Nixon Peabody is the merged creation of Boston-based Peabody & Brown and New York-based Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle.
Mr. Brown had teased of his new position on Facebook: He posted he was “excited” to make a “non-political announcement.”
Some still say his political days are far from over, despite his recent loss for Secretary of State John Kerry’s Senate seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren — in one of the most expensive Senate races in national history. A recent poll from UMass Lowell-Boston Herald found that almost 59 percent of Massachusetts voters would give Mr. Brown support for a gubernatorial run in next year’s elections, The Associated Press reports.
