AVONDALE, ARIZ. (AP) - Travis Pastrana has made quite a living while living dangerously, flipping motorcycles, jumping out of airplanes and racing cars.
So now that he’s about to become a father, does the daredevil want his kid to follow his walk-a-fine-line footsteps?
“I definitely feel for my parents with everything I’ve put them through, but we’ll encourage whatever we have, a boy or a girl, to follow their passion,” Pastrana said Friday at Phoenix International Raceway. “I’m hoping their passion is golf, maybe.”
The last statement drew laughter and Pastrana made it clear he wouldn’t mind if his first-born was to follow him into action sports or his new passion, stock-car racing.
“With what he we have in the action sports community, the action sports family and now getting into the racing family, it’s a tighter-knit community with more role models and more people that I would like my kid to look up to be a part of and influenced by,” said Pastrana, in his first full season with the Nationwide Series after winning 11 X Games medals on a motorcycle. “So I really do hope that they’re in this industry.”
Pastrana and his wife, professional skateboarder Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, announced on Tuesday that they’re having a baby.
