Officials in Mexico have rescued 165 kidnap victims being held in the border state of Tamaulipas for as many as three weeks, the country’s Interior Ministry said Thursday, CNN reported.

A vast majority of the victims are Central American migrants. Another 14 are Mexican nationals, and one is from India, the ministry said.

Drug cartels that operate in the area are known to have requested ransoms for kidnapped migrants, CNN reported.
