Former Rep. Allen B. West, Florida Republican, said in a fundraising email that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is more harmful to America’s constitutional future than the leader of al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

He made the comments in a recent fundraising email for the Allen West Guardian Fund, Politico reported. In it, he called Mr. Holder the “bigger threat to our Republic” and said America needs to act now to counter the influences from the current administration.

“Al Qaeda is a very serious and persistent threat, but I trust the U.S. military to protect us from future attacks,” he wrote, as Politico reported. “I cannot say the same about President Obama and his Justice Department.

Mr. West also quoted Cicero, the Roman philosopher who argued that a nation “cannot survive treason from within.” Mr. West then said Mr. Holder was using his position to “implement Obama’s radical transformation of America,” as evidenced by the department’s seizure of media records and the administration’s failures in the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on America’s facilities in Benghazi, Libya.

“I can’t emphasize enough how critical your support it,” Mr. West wrote, as Politico reported. “I’ve been warning for a long time that there may be a day we wake up and America is no longer America. The more time Eric Holder spends as Barack Obama’s right hand man, the closer we are to this day. We must top this dangerous duo today.”
