When it comes to marriage, women with chiseled faces with more masculine undertones tend to fare better than those with soft, delicate feminine features, a new study finds.
But the delicate-featured do well for flings, the study adds, the Daily Mail reported.
Men are subconsciously pushed toward marrying the less attractive because they believe these women will be more faithful, CTV News said, referencing the report.
“If his partner cheats on him, a man risks raising a child which is not his own,” said study authors Anthonly Little from the University of Sitrling and Benedict Jones from the University of Glasgow, in the British Journal of Psychology.
The study analyzed the behaviors and preferences of hundreds of heterosexual males, who were asked to choose among several female faces and list which were preferred for marriage versus for short affairs. The female face options could be categorized into two groups — more feminine, and more masculine, the Daily Mail reported.
More masculine made better wives. More feminine, better short-term lovers, the study found.
Previous studies have shown similarly for women — that men with chiseled faces were perceived as better for affairs while those with softer faces were better for marriage and child-rearing.
