A Syrian artistic group has been making waves across the Mideast with an Internet puppet show poking fun at both sides of the country’s conflict.
Syrian President Bashar Assad stars as a puppet in “Diaries of a Little Dictator,” Ynet News reported. His character name is Beeshu, and he’s portrayed as a reckless ruler with big ears, a long nose, and scores of evil bodyguards and minions who are given a simple mission: Attack the Syrians, Ynet reported.
The show first started in 2011 as a means of promoting peace and nonviolent resistance to Mr. Assad’s military. It’s since garnered more than 200,000 hits on YouTube, as well as a pickup from a Dubai television channel that now broadcasts it nationwide, Ynet said.
