Emergency responders on Friday were still sifting through the debris of a three-story building that collapsed just outside Mumbai, looking for survivors and retrieving bodies.
At least 10 were confirmed dead, including a two-month-old baby girl, United Press International reported. Another 14 or so were injured.
“There are more people trapped inside and rescue operations are in full swing,” said Sandeep Malvi, a spokesman for the Thane municipal corporation, the region where the building stood, BBC reported.
The building fell late Thursday evening. The cause of the collapse is not clear, and under investigation.
Another building collapse in the same Thane region in April killed 74, UPI reported.
