Dubai’s director of government projects said that nation was constructing a new theme park to honor the Muslim holy text, the Koran, to be ready for tourists and visitors by September 2014.
Mohammed Noor Mashroom made the announcement in various media reports published Thursday.
The park plan comes on the heels of two other recent Dubai project announcements that are more in line with drawing Western tourists — to win the bid for an Angry Birds theme park and to build the world’s largest Ferris wheel, The Associated Press reported.
The park will have a garden with plants that are mentioned in the Koran, AP reported. It will also have an air-conditioned tunnel with images of holy events that are described in the book.
