Massachusetts police spent Tuesday evening at the home of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez as part of an investigation into a homicide scene about a mile away.
Investigators said Mr. Hernandez has not been named a suspect, Fox News reported, but police also report that he’s not being cooperative and answering all their questions, Fox News said.
On Monday, law enforcement responded to a 911 call of a body at an industrial park about a mile from Mr. Hernandez’s house, CBS reported. Sports Illustrated said police became interested in the football star after learning that a car found at the scene — a Chevrolet Suburban with Rhode Island license plates — was a rental linked to Mr. Hernandez. CBS subsequently reported that the vehicle “has emerged as a key piece of evidence in the investigation.”
A local newspaper, The Sun Chronicle in Attleboro, reported that police were combing the vehicle for fingerprints.
Investigators still don’t know the cause of death of the victim, a 27-year-old man who’s not yet been identified. The body was found about 5:30 p.m. Monday by a jogger, who then alerted authorities.
The jogger described the body to WBZ-TV as “an African-American male, probably 25-35 years old, decently dressed. He was stiff, motionless. One of the police officers came back later and said it looked [like] the guy had been shot somewhere else and dumped here.”
