A Texas mother of six not only wrestled a knife away from an alleged carjacker who attacked while some of her children were in the vehicle, but then turned the tables and turned aggressor.
She ran him down as he tried to flee, and sent him to the hospital for treatment of various injuries, the Daily Mail reported.
“He messes with the wrong witch,” said Dorothy Baker of Baytown, Texas, in the Daily Mail.
The incident began when Ms. Baker was driving home from a CVS pharmacy. The suspect, who was hiding in the back of her minivan, popped up, brandished a knife and demanded money — surprising Ms. Baker and the two children she had with her, 5-year-old Xavier and 2-year-old Jayden.
“I asked him how much he needed and he said $200,” Ms. Baker said in the Daily Mail. “I told him I didn’t have that kind of cash, I had about $20 in my account, and he said I better figure out a way to get it, or my kids were going to get hurt.”
The suspect, Ismael Martinez, 53, climbed into the front passenger seat as she continued to drive but noticed on her cellphone that she had called 911. They struggled, and Ms. Baker grabbed the knife from him and punched him in the face, the Daily Mail reported. She pulled over and ordered him from the van — but while he was fleeing, she chased him down and ran him over, the Daily Mail said.
“He kind of zagged and I turned, intending to clip him in the side or something to get him to stop,” she said in the report. “I ended up running completely over him.”
He’s in the hospital, in stable condition, awaiting incarceration. Police said he has a 1976 rape conviction, the Daily Mail reported.
Meanwhile, police are commending Ms. Baker for her bravery.
“You don’t come after people with kids,” she said in a Fox News broadcast.
