British authorities issued a directive to airlines all around the world, telling them not to transport NSA information leaker Edward Snowden to the United Kingdom.
The alert said that “the individual is highly likely to be refused entry to the U.K.,” The Associated Press reported.
An official who requested anonymity but confirmed the directive was genuine said Mr. Snowden had been deemed a detriment to the “public good” by the British Home Office.
Any airline that disregards the directive and flies him to the United Kingdom could be fined, he said, in the AP report.
Mr. Snowden is currently hiding in Hong Kong. He admitted on Sunday that he was the whistleblower behind the leak of National Security Agency intelligence documents in a story published in The Guardian in London.
