A chemical plant in Louisiana exploded and caught on fire early Thursday, leaving several people injured.
The plant, located in Geismar, about 30 miles from Baton Rouge, is the Williams Olefins facility and produces about 1.3 billion pounds of ethylene each year, CNN reported. It also produces up to 90 million pounds of polymer-grade propylene annually, the company said on its website.
Video of the fire showed flames and black smoke rising from one section of the plant. The nature of the injuries are not yet known. Neither are details on the victims, CNN reported.
