Israeli police said Thursday that several graves at a Christian cemetery in Tel Aviv have been vandalized and defaced.
Micky Rosenfeld, a spokesman for the police, said the phrase “price tag” was sprayed on a number of the grave stones. The cemetery is located in Jaffa, an area of the city with a mixed Arab and Jewish population, The Associated Press reported.
The words “price tag” are frequently used by Jewish extremists in protest of what they perceive as a pro-Palestinian policy by Israeli government officials. The phrase is also used as a retaliation for attacks by Palestinians. The phrase has been seen in recent weeks on mosques and churches, and was just recently sprayed on a historic church in Jerusalem, AP reported.
Mr. Rosenfeld said police are investigating the Thursday incident and are searching for the suspects, AP reported.
