Robert Griffin III’s rehab from knee surgery continues to progress, with no major developments since last week.
So as Griffin faced the media Tuesday afternoon for the final time until Redskins training camp six weeks from now, the quarterback was asked about the most pressing NFL issue of the previous 24 hours: Tim Tebow signing with the New England Patriots.
“I think it’s good,” Griffin said. “I know I always root for guys, especially quarterbacks, as odd as it sounds. I’m a quarterback-friendly guy, so I try to root for them, that they always succeed. You hate to see a guy out on the street no matter what position he plays.
“Obviously Tim’s a very passionate player. It was good that someone stepped up and signed him because they felt like he could help their team. I wish the best for him.”
Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, four years before Griffin took home the honor. The Redskins do not play the Patriots this year, so Griffin will be left to admire Tebow only from afar.
In other news, Griffin said he’ll be around Redskins Park for another week or two before departing for some personal time — most notably his wedding. He has a training program he’ll follow even on his honeymoon to ensure he’s on track for the opening of training camp July 25 in Richmond.

“There’s life outside of football,” Griffin said. “I’ll make sure I stay prepared, ready to go, stay in contact with everybody, and then we’ll go from there.”
He’ll continue working on the key facets remaining in his rehab, especially making quick cuts on his surgically repaired knee. But the ultimate hurdle — getting hit — likely won’t be crossed until Griffin makes his first preseason appearance.
“You can’t get ready for that; it just happens,” he said. “So whenever camp rolls around and I’m out there practicing, that’s when you get ready for that. But you usually don’t get your first hit until a game-type situation and I’ll be ready for that, too.”
