Labor strikes have pushed France’s main airports on Tuesday to cut back half of its scheduled flights.
Air traffic controllers are protesting a plan to bring Europe’s air space under central control, The Associated Press reported. They have planned a three-day strike, in direct response to the plans, and the strike is likely to spread among all European Union nations by Wednesday, AP reported.
In France, the Civil Aviation Authority cut 1,800 flights on Tuesday at several key airports.
“The cancellations are for security reasons, but also to avoid airport overcrowding,” said Eric Herault, with the CAA, in the AP report.
