Thousands in eastern Germany have been evacuated from their homes as a dam broke, sending Elbe River waters gushing.
The Danube River overflowed over the weekend, and heavy rains continue to take a toll in central Europe. In the past week, at least 21 have been killed in flood-related incidents, RTE World reported.
More than 23,000 fled their homes in Magdeburg. The Czech Republic’s historic capital, Prague, has been besieged by flood waters. In Hungary, where Danube waters are threatening the capital, volunteers are on the scene, rushing to construct flood walls, the media outlet reported.
The San Francisco Chronicle said 7,000 soldiers have joined with volunteers to reinforce dikes throughout the area.
