America’s favorite snack food is returning, now with nearly double the shelf life.
The new Hostess Brands said that when Twinkies return on Monday they’ll have a 45-day shelf life, significantly longer than the 26-day shelf life they previously had, CNN reported.
The new Twinkies will be found in 110,000 locations by the end of this year, up from 50,000 stores when the company shutdown, CNN said.
The former Hostess Brands shut operations after a strike by the bakers’ union in November. Panic swept the nation as consumers snatched up the dwindling supply of snack cakes, but faith was restored when the new brand bought the rights and recipe to make Hostess snacks in bankruptcy court earlier this year.
