Hollywood’s Jim Carrey — known for his vitriolic put-downs of gun owners and for a somewhat bizarre denouncement of a very violent flick he just starred in, “Kick-Ass 2” — now has issued an apology to the very same segment of society he publicly disdains.
In a series of Twitter posts, he tells gun owners: I’m sorry for cussing you out.
One tweet: “Asslt rifle fans, I do not agree with u, nor do I fear u but I do love u and I’m sorry tht in my outrage I called you names. That was wrong.”
Another tweet: “BTW I don’t need a crisis mgr, just a conscience. Calling ppl names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn’t changed.”
In the past, Mr. Carrey has called gun owners and those who oppose federal crackdowns on Second Amendment rights a variety of expletives. In one tweet, he referred to assault weapons owners “heartless [expletives].”
He also on June 24 sent out a couple of tweets distancing himself from the upcoming movie he did, “Kick-Ass 2.” The movie is due for release in mid-August, The Huffington Post reported.

“I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies,” he tweeted then.
