A California coroner said one of the 16-year-old girls who died during Saturday’s plane crash at San Francisco International Airport may in fact have been killed by an emergency vehicle.
San Mateo County Coroner Robert J. Foucrault said fire department officials said the girl may have been hit by a vehicle that was rushing to the runway, The Associated Press reported.
“We were made aware of the possibility at the scene that day,” Mr. Foucrault said in the AP report.
One of the bodies was discovered on the runway, right at the site of the plane tail’s impact, AP reported. But the other was 30 feet away, where the Boeing 777 skidded to stop. And that site is near an emergency slide, where emergency vehicle responders congregated.
The two girls who were killed were traveling from China to a summer camp.
