DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (AP) - Making her first trip to a NASCAR race, Alyssa Milano got the VIP tour of Daytona International Speedway on Saturday.
She had lunch with the wives of several drivers. She rode fast laps around the high-banked track in a pace car. She even spent time with Danica Patrick and other stock-car stars.
“I’ve just had an amazing, amazing day,” Milano said.
Her daylong trip had a purpose, too.
Milano’s appearance was to help launch her clothing line for female NASCAR fans. The apparel features 10 drivers, including fan favorites Patrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
It follows other Touch By Alyssa Milano lines designed for NFL, NBA and MLB teams.
“Ever since Touch came out, which was about seven years ago now, the most frequently asked question that I’ve been asked by female sports fans has been, `When are you doing NASCAR?’” said Milano, who found fame in the 1980s as a child actor on ABC’s “Who’s the Boss?” “I felt like it was pretty important because it kept coming up.
“So we got serious about trying to do it in the last couple of years, and NASCAR has been wonderful to work with and very responsive. It’s really just amazing to be able to be here after so many years of wanting to be here and having it be a reality.”
The initial launch includes a variety of women’s shirts for drivers Patrick, Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski and Tony Stewart.
