A New Mexico homeowner was ordered in a letter from the city inspector to remove the two lawn chairs from her front yard, or face a fine of up to $300.
The inspector said in the letter that her lawn chairs were a violation of city zoning codes, the Daily Mail reported.
The letter to Fawn Dolan from the Albuquerque Code Enforcement Department said the chairs were “outdoor storage items,” and she had until July 4 to put them away.
“I didn’t realize that sitting in your front yard in lawn chairs was against the law,” Ms. Dolan said in KRQE News 13. She brought the order to the attention of the code enforcement manager, Brennon Williams — who hastily tossed it.
“You know, we all make mistakes,” Mr. Williams said to KRQE News 13. “At this point, this investigation’s going to be closed. There will be no further action.”
Mr. Williams guessed that the inspector mistook the chairs, which were wicker, for indoor furniture. Ms. Dolan, however, said the chairs had been on her front lawn since September.
