Al Jazeera in Egypt went off air early Thursday after members of the military stormed the station, arresting television personnel and guests.
“Reports from our correspondents say this happened during a live broadcast when security forces stormed the building and arrested the presenter, guests and producers,” the network said, Politico reported.
The storming occurred just after then-President Mohammed Morsi was ousted from office.
Military members also took several other stations off the air, including the Muslim Brotherhood’s TV channel and Salafist networks in al-Nass, al-Hifaz and al-Amjaad, Politico reported.
A tweet from an NBC News correspondent in the Tahir Square area said that “a group of men” entered his office “looking for Al Jazeera journalists.”
