Talk about high water bills. One Dallas man takes the cake on that statement, reporting that water department authorities just mailed him a bill for $67,000 — in error.
The mistake maybe wouldn’t be so bad, except it’s the second time for the household in the past few months, The Associated Press reported.
Tom Hoffman said he just received a bill for $66,000 from the same department and that it took some time to fix. He was ultimately forced to cancel his water bill auto-pay when the $66,000 debit didn’t clear and the bank frozen his financial accounts.
Fast forward a few months, and now he’s been billed for $67,000 for water usage, AP reported.
It’s due to a broken water meter, followed by a departmental computer error, a Dallas spokesman told AP. The meter’s since been replaced — finally — and the city has apologized to Mr. Hoffman.
