Texas legislators who support the bill to ban abortion past the 20th week of pregnancy say they’ve been harassed, threatened and intimidated — and thank goodness for the state’s concealed carry gun laws.
State representative Jonathan Stickland said to National Review Online that some pro-choice protesters have even threatened to do him bodily harm — to “pummel my face in,” for example — and that at one point, they tweeted pictures of his every move.
“Everywhere I went, they were tweeting pictures of ’Strickland’s in the elevator,’ or ’Strickland’s on the move,’” he said, in NRO. “It was horrendous. I continue to be very concerned about it.”
Good thing he and his staff are licenses concealed handgun carriers, he said.
“I very, very often do concealed-carry, I can say that,” he said, in NRO.
Meanwhile, state senator Donna Campbell has been the recipient of hate-filled Facebook messages and emails that say, “I hope you’re raped,” or “I hope your daughter’s raped,” her spokesman, Jon Oliver, said to NRO.

“Lots of language — ’You’re an effin’ blank,’ ’You are a traitor to women’ — those kind of things,” Mr. Oliver said, in NRO. “They’re the kind of emails that make you a little nervous.”
