Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton reportedly are angry over efforts by Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral campaign to compare the Mr. Weiner’s Internet affairs and his wife, Huma Abedin, to the Clintons’ White House scandal in 1998.

“The Clintons are upset with the comparisons that the Weiners seem to be encouraging — that Huma is ’standing by her man’ the way Hillary did with Bill, which is not what she in fact did,’’ a top New York state Democrat told the New York Post.

The Weiner campaign has referred explicitly to the Clintons in efforts to persuade Democratic voters to back Mr. Weiner, just as the electorate did Mr. Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the source said.

“The Clintons are pissed off that Weiner’s campaign is saying that Huma is just like Hillary,’’ the source told the Post. “How dare they compare Huma with Hillary? Hillary was the first lady. Hillary was a senator. She was secretary of state.”
