The son of Ariel Castro — the Ohio man who confessed to kidnapping and holding three Cleveland-area women for nearly 10 years — said Monday his father rightly belongs in jail for the rest of his life.
Anthony Castro, 31, said on NBC’s “Today” show that his father was a liar and a bully. He also said he didn’t think he’d be visiting him in prison.
Ariel Castro, 53, will be sentenced on Thursday on more than 900 charges related to kidnapping and rape. He pleaded guilty last Friday and agreed to a plea deal where he would serve 1,000 years without parole in exchange for avoiding a death sentence.
“I think that if he really can’t control his impulses, and he really doesn’t have any value for human life, the way this case has shown, then behind bars is where he belongs for the rest of his life,” the younger Mr. Castro said, USA Today reported. “He’s been lying to his family for the past 10, 11 years at every possible turn. I have no trust in him. I can’t see myself going to visit him and giving him the opportunity to face me and lie to me again.”
