Embattled New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner said he doesn’t care what people say or how critics respond — he’s not leaving the race.
“You’re stuck with me,” he told the Staten Island Advance in an interview published Sunday.
That’s on the heels of scathing criticism from even members of his own Democratic Party, who are apparently on their last legs of support for the former congressional member who can’t seem to curb his sexting scandal.
On Sunday, liberal strategist David Axelrod called Mr. Weiner’s run “absurd” and urged him to quit.
“He’s wasting time and space,” Mr. Axelrod said. “Americans believe in second chances … but not third chances.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Weiner continued to downplay his sexual issues. Asked if he’s a sex addict, he said, “Addiction has a clinical meaning and I’ve been told it doesn’t apply here.”
