O.J. Simpson, 66, told a parole board on Thursday that he’s spent long enough in jail and should be allowed a reduced sentence.
He said, CNN reported: My five years behind bars “have been somewhat illuminating at times and painful a lot of time. I missed my two younger kids who worked hard getting through high school. I missed their college graduations. I missed my sister’s funeral. I missed all the birthdays.”
He made the comments to Nevada prison authorities via closed-circuit television from jail. Simpson has been serving time for kidnapping, armed robbery and other counts related to his assault at a Las Vegas casino to take back items he said were his.
The parole board will rule on his request in the next couple weeks, CNN said. But he can’t get out immediately. At best, he will have to serve four more years. At worst, he’ll have to finish his full 33 years.
