In yet another ominous sign of Chinese ill intent, we now learn that China intends to challenge our peaceful naval supremacy with advanced submarines capable of launching nuclear attacks against the United States (“Red tide: China deploys new class of strategic missile submarines next year,” Web, July 23).

And this from a country whose unprecedented and completely unnecessary military buildup has been enabled by our generous extension of unlimited access to our markets.

China is clearly an enemy, and it’s high time we stopped funding its future aggression against us through the consumption of their junk.

Put simply, we need to starve this dragon in the name of national security.
